The first home of the Rocky Mountain News before being
washed away in the flood of 1864.

Jefferson Territory was formed by a group of citizens of
the Colorado gold regions in 1859. Without any official
sanction, the self proclaimed Jefferson Territory had no
status as far as the United States Government was concerned.
It dissolved with the formation of Colorado Territory in
1861.
